New Guinea Singing Dogs Seeking Patient, Experienced Homes
We are looking for special homes for two New Guinea Singing Dogs—a 6-year-old male and an 8-year-old female—who are ready for a fresh start after spending their lives in outdoor kennel environments.
These two are not a bonded pair and do not need to be adopted together, though they are housed near one another. Each dog is seeking their own space and the right person to help them adjust to a new way of life.
With limited exposure to indoor living, both dogs are understandably nervous and aloof, but they also show curiosity toward new people. They will need time, patience, and a calm atmosphere to feel safe and begin to trust.
They would do best in homes with secure indoor/outdoor access or an enclosed space that allows them to decompress and explore at their own pace. These are primitive, intelligent dogs who are not suited for inexperienced homes. Prior experience with feral, shy, or primitive breeds is strongly preferred.
Because of their history, they are not suited for homes with young children. However, they may do well with a dog of the opposite sex after very slow, careful introductions. They may also be able to transition into the same home with that same level of deliberate, structured integration and ongoing management.
If you’re someone who understands the unique needs of rare, independent dogs and can provide the structure and sensitivity they require, one of these singing dogs—or possibly both—may be a perfect fit for you.
